Lupus Garrett: Maximalia

Garrett’s mixed-media collages rework found photographic portraits into impious icons of satiric intent. His computer-manipulated and cloth-printed visages are subsequently painted, appliquéd, broidered, jeweled, and otherwise embellished with the fripperies of a committed bricoleur. Grouped in series by character types, Garrett’s portraits portend the gravity of documentary typologies. Closer inspection reveals them to be funny, erotic, and allusive.
