Fit to Print: Contemporary American Graphics from the Collection

Fit to Print well-illustrates how contemporary artists have found the opportunity to expand their creativity through the print mediums’ varied avenues of investigation. Approximately 75 diverse prints, ranging in date from the late 1960s to 2012, will illustrate a variety of artistic movements, styles, and print-making techniques. Fit to Print offers examples of the germinal experiments of Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg; Pop art statements by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and James Rosenquist; Minimal and Conceptual compositions by Sol LeWitt, Ellsworth Kelly, and Frank Stella; and examples from the “Pictures Generation,” including works by Eric Fischl, Robert Longo, and David Salle.

A special feature of the exhibition is a group of fifteen prints, newly acquired from ULAE and not shown before at the Daum. Among this section are lithographs by Kiki Smith and Ellen Gallagher, as well as intaglio prints by Elizabeth Murray, Jasper Johns, and Mark Fox.
