The Daum Museum partners with State Fair Community College faculty and staff and area colleges and universities. On average, 1,200 students and faculty from several disciplines participate yearly in a variety of content specific and VTS museum tours. Various SFCC programs participating in Campus Connections include dental hygiene, nursing, chemistry, art, TRiO, psychology, developmental math, agriculture, English as a second language, and adult education and literacy.
Museum staff partner with departments from the University of Missouri, University of Central Missouri, and Missouri Valley College by sharing the museum’s permanent collection and offering educational opportunities such as artist demonstrations, lectures, and workshops to area institutions.
Information outlining these programs is widely promoted and interested faculty is encouraged to contact the museum’s curator of education to discuss learning opportunities, including ways current exhibitions align with curriculum needs, how VTS can help students apply their museum experience to specific assignments, and tour details.
For more information about the Campus Connection programs, contact Vicki Weaver, curator of education, at (660) 596-7331 or victoriaweaver@daummuseum.org.
